Ciera & Cody ♥️

These two chose this location because it’s special to them. They live here, and Cody is in charge of management of the property. They had their first dreamy kiss here, and now they’ve had their engagement photos here. Honestly, what a dream to be so close to such a beautiful property and vineyard with such special memories. Just Gorgeous.

Side note: The best part of Engagement Sessions (aside from finally giving my brides and grooms a hug for the first time) is that I get to learn everything my clients DO (and don’t) enjoy in front of the camera.

It varies couple to couple and it is so valuable as the photographer to have that time before the wedding with them. It is also the perfect way to have each Bride and Groom warm up to me, my posing and prompts before the wedding too. 😉

I’ve been receiving messages for the last couple of weeks on when the launch will happen for this years minis… I am so happy to be opening booking today! If you would like to secure your spot, please send me a dm saying “Spring Minis!”, and I’ll shoot you a link and some info to join in.

Whether you are celebrating Mother’s Day for yourself or with a special woman in your life, minis are a great opportunity to get together with your loved ones for some quick shots.

I cannot tell you enough how wonderful bride and groom sessions are! Truly wonderful. If there is ever a chance to do an additional shoot, dressed up in your wedding clothes again, please go for it. This session was an absolute blast last year, and I’m kicking myself for not sharing more from it.

Kate and Chris knocked my (and all of downtown Sacramento’s) socks off at their anniversary session. We were hooted and whistled and cheered. No one knew they’d already been married for nearly a year. People just wanted to wish them well. It was awesome!
I’m so glad we made it happen. And look! Ugh! When I tell you it was hard to have a favorite shot, I mean it.

Happy Engagement Season y’all!

I love Rebecca and Jack’s engagement images, and I knew I had to share them before the holiday season disappears (Although in our home we’ve decided to extend our celebrating and decor through at least January 😂).

Our goal wasn’t to have a lot of Christmas decor highlighted throughout their gallery, but it was a lovely touch to mark the time of year here and there, and the extra garden lights were lovely to have.

I know these will make a lovely keepsake to remember their first Holiday season betrothed to each other before tying the knot in 2022 ♥️

Filoli is absolutely gorgeous, and I am so happy to have gotten a chance to run around the property with these two during the best light of the day. Thank you Rebecca and Jack, your connection is special and we are so excited for your wedding next year.

Let’s talk about retouching and edits.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I do an edit to every image I deliver. I focus on the colors in each set of images; is the skin warm, does it need some smoothing, or do I need to balance the greens between the cooler and warmer tones throughout? Is there a standout color that I can enhance?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
After I am happy with an image’s colors I move on to retouching. Not every image needs extra love, but sometimes to make my “hero” shots pop, I will give some extra love to a couple’s skin (Amanda’s skin was lovely here), or add an effect to make the light even more beautiful.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I think the post processing of a gallery is what really sets photographers apart. And of course always having a willingness to grow and learn. Investing in education that can build you as an artist and as a technician (so much of photography focuses on using your gear and tech well). Let me know if there is a course you’re loving below? Don’t you just want to stay a weekend here? Tips for planning an elopement below.

This spot was at an elopement about a year ago. The couple rented out a beautiful Airbnb in Sonoma County. I’m still swooning with the beautiful seasonal vibes. 😍
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Three tips for eloping:
1. Start planning early! Make a short list of locations you would be into getting married, and the time of year that would best suit your dream images.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2. Decide if an Airbnb or traditional Hotel is best for you. Many locations are a-okay with a pop up wedding, you just need to let them know. Or if you want to do something a bit more out there with an adventure hike and scenic views, you can look into getting a guide. (City hall elopements are a wonderful option too!)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3. Reach out to your dream photographer ASAP. I can’t tell you how heartbreaking it is when we have to tell someone no because we already have their date booked. So reach out as quick as you can! ♥️

4. Now that you have an idea of what options you love, and what they generally cost, it’s time to budget! (You could really do this as step three, but then you risk under budgeting for your photography.) Knowing what is most important to you is going to be massive for this.
